I graduated in 2010 from Iowa State University with dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering. My undergraduate studies emphasized signal processing, control theory, and computer engineering—foundations that continue to drive my work in precision systems and automation.
In 2012, I earned my Master of Science in Robotics and Controls from Iowa State University. My graduate thesis focused on developing an advanced control algorithm for a two-way internet satellite dish designed to maintain stable connectivity while mounted on moving vehicles, such as boats or RVs. This project also involved creating custom test equipment to validate the system's performance in real-world conditions. You can see the system working in the test setup here: Satellite Dish Control
In 2013, I joined John Deere, where I contributed to the development of heavy-duty off-road diesel engine controls. During my time there, I created several trade secrets and invented a patented method for fast engine position determination, enabling improved performance and reliability in demanding applications. The patent can be found here: System and method for determining information related to a rotation of a shaft
From 2016 onward, I played a key role in advancing the John Deere ExactApply™ control software, introducing several innovative features that significantly enhanced the product's capabilities:
Auto-switching and auto-pulsing functionality, which dramatically increased the effective nozzle turn-down ratio from approximately 5:1 to 25:1, allowing far greater range of speeds while maintaining target application rate.
Closed-loop control of application rates during See & Spray Targeted Herbicide™ operations, ensuring accurate rate control while spot-spraying weeds, minimizing chemical usage.
Closed-loop control for multi-meter and See & Spray Variable Rate™ applications, enabling independent, targeted application rates across different sections of the sprayer boom for maximum efficiency and environmental stewardship.
With this strong foundation in engineering, controls theory, and embedded software, I founded Analytical Control Solutions, LLC to bring innovative, reliable solutions to embedded controllers. I'm passionate about solving complex real-world challenges using true analytical solutions.
