Solving problems that are only reproducible in the field can be a daunting task as external debuggers are not available. If the problem goes away after adding debug code, things can be even more difficult. We have experience building self-debuggers into the OS to provide a comprehensive snap-shot of the state of the processor using the internal debug hardware. Once the data is captured, it can be processed by a desktop tool to show the value of variables and the call stack when the debug event occurred. This can drastically reduce the time and cost of solving problems in the field.
